Is it normal that Dell calls me asking for Windows password to my laptop that they broke and forced me to send it for a paid repair to their depo?

I had a routine fan replacement as my system was overheating a bit. The laptop is out of the complete care warranty but it still has standard NBD on site. Engineer comes, replaces whole mobo then notices white residue on the old one. Calls Dell and they tell him to put the old one back as that indicates liquid spillage which voids the warranty. After he's done that the whole computer short-circuited burning several parts to ashes. I never spilled …
