is iPhone really more private out of the box than android?

It seems to have been the prevailing thought, but the more I read about Google dropping cross app tracking, ip leaks on iPhone, is there really any real diff between either out of the box? Feels like more options exist now for android privacy settings even forgetting de-googling.
