Is AWS Cognito a privacy issue?

A web service I frequently use recently introduced AWS Cognito (https://aws.amazon.com/cognito) to their web stack to provide API access for non signed in users. My uMatrix broke the site untill I whitelisted this script. My first thought was that anything Amazon related is a big no-no. Does anyone know anything about how this service uses personal data?
