Is Avast a scam?

My computer has been a bit slower lately. I have been watching shows online (not through official sites *wink wink*🏴‍☠️). I figured I got a virus or something. So I downloaded Avast. I ran the scan and it said it was all good. However, it said my webcam was vulnerable to hacks. I don't have a webcam. Is it trying to scam me into buying the pro version? Is it all just a scam?
