In the era of hostile hardware/firmware, is endpoint cybersecurity/cryptography still possible?

I am considering starting up a company to do endpoint/hosting security based on encryption and particularly a new symmetric key cipher (SKREM) I had invented (which can be safely composed with AES don't worry).
The challenge that I face in designing my product is Rootkits. Of course, encryption - especially symmetric key - is useless if the passwords can be key-logged by a rootkit. While there are some promising approaches in mitigating keylogging, the challenge for endpoint security …
