So much for end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp stores all your shared files in a folder called "shared" in AppData > Local > Packages > (random numbers) WhatsApp Desktop > LocalState. They're perfectly searchable by Windows Search when searching for say .jpg, slowly wasting your hard drive space. If you use WhatsApp Desktop on a public or shared device, all your files will be visible even after logging off. Previous versions didn't do this.
