i want a second phone for privacy and for verification purpose to not use my main number.

should I go prepaid with like mint mobile or is adding a second line to the current plan fine? could a normal person find out who I am based on a number with my current carrier? I know law enforcement can but I don't care about that. it would be for social media accounts and services so I'm not using my main phone for it.
