I received this e-mail trying to wash their hands for selling my data. Has anyone gotten to the bottom of the "legitimate basis" for selling data?

I received this e-mail (quoting text below) trying to wash their hands for selling my data. There's a link on which I can request deletion (which isn't deletion, they state they will put data in "dormant mode"). But …
