I feel like cybersecurity is a sham at a lot of companies. They'll say they care but in reality don't. Would anyone be able to share their personal experience?

I've worked in IT for about a decade now for a handful of companies (all non F500). I could fill the thread with a number of examples where it becomes apparent security isn't really a concern. Even the position i'm in now - it's apparent i'm more or less just a checkbox for insurance purposes. I'm reporting to an IT director who has no traditional security experience but he's the person who calls the shots.
