How to get SIEM experience and logging experience at home

I'm in school for cybersec and we had a class that give us access to these tools that were live and so we got updates and had malious traffic sent and the teacher could do it all and we were able to get on and have a real life environment for learning. I'm now done with thst class and you lose access to all this stuff how and what would I need to set up my own "lab" I guess …
