How to get around VM detection?

I’m new to this stuff and enjoy looking at malware as a pastime as it’s very interesting to me, but I’ve run into an issue with one piece of malware that I’m looking at: it seems to have VM detection and I can’t get it to infect my virtual machine. I’m using the latest version of VMWare. How do I get around this and get it to infect the machine?
