Privacy & Freedom in the Information Age www.reddit.com

I have a few things I want to take to Best Buy for recycling: a couple of old phones and an old laptop. But, I want to safeguard my old data by destroying it. I'm hoping that some physical method will be easiest. I don't have a magnet. I don't want to do anything that will harm the environment. Thanks for any ideas!
