How to completely wipe your phone storage before trading in?

I'm considering upgrading to a more recent Samsung Galaxy and going to trade in my current one. However, I'd like to have it completely wiped and purged before doing the trade in.

Do you guys know of any tried and tested ways to completely wipe the phone storage?
