How is the $mft, $logfile... Data hidden

Hi, im making some forensics investigations and i dont know if any of you know how can you hide a file just like $mft or if anyone knows what does windows do to hide it.


I know that there are several ways to see it but im still curious to know if you can hide any file just like that
