Privacy & Freedom in the Information Age www.reddit.com

I’m asking from a privacy standpoint. Clearly, police having this information calls her actions into question. However, I’m wondering exactly how the police were able to obtain this info. Her parents? Her cell phone carrier? Google? I recall hearing something about the FBI getting involved and tracking internet searches by location, and clearly, her searches stood out I guess. But I can’t find an article that specifically mentions how they went about this.
