How Common Is The Use of SQLMap?

I’m a novice Security Analyst for a MSSP (around a year of experience), and I was wondering how common the use of SQLMap and other tools for automating SQL Injection is? Chiefly, for red teamers, is this a common tool that you use to identify possible injection points and vulnerabilities? Or is more common to do this manually?
