How can I stop targeted ads from showing up on other devices using the same wifi?!

I'm honestly super ticked off at this. I can't even surprise my gf with a nice gift because she'll just get ads for whatever I've been searching.
I'm not into anything shady but it also seems like a big privacy concern. You can just tell what other people are searching because of the ads you get.
Currently would like to know how to stop this on an android phone specifically but will take advice for PC too!
