How can I break into cybersecurity after my IT audit internship?

I was fortunate enough to land a 10-month internship as an IT audit intern(hasn’t yet begun) which I’m excited about and I’d like for it to be a stepping stone for myself to eventually break into cybersecurity. However, this is only the first step and I unfortunately don’t know the rest of the steps…so I was hoping to gain some clarity on that from the helpful folks of this subreddit!
