Hidden message in T&C’s

I once read somewhere that some companies (mostly start ups) add a hidden message in the T&C’s that they remove once they receive a request from the government agency to share user data.

Is this true? And what was the message ?

I think it was something related to ‘canary’ …. But I don’t remember

Anyone knows anything about this?
