Government Contracting (TS) = Never getting new skills like Private? Career Suicide?

Going back into the Public Sector and trying to get a TS is something I’m in the middle of interviewing in, Cyber Security “Engineer” or Incident Response Analyst.
These seem to revolve around a bit of Linux but mostly government oriented tools (STIG/SCAP/eMASS).
This job will be give me a slight pay cut but not a big …
