gmail requires phone number

i attempted to make a sort of burner/secondary gmail account for all the non important websites
but when it got to the phone number part it didn't have the skip button it used to have
i have a phone number yes but i want the account to have as little information as possible about me


the main question is:
is there anyway to skip this or should i switch to an alternative?
