Privacy & Freedom in the Information Age www.reddit.com

Hello, I've been thinking about purchasing a Garmin vivoactive watch. I've read elsewhere that Garmin is more data privacy respecting that others? (Probably not as much Apple, but I only use a de-googled android phone).

Is the Garmin phone app always sending back data to Garmin? Or can you use the phone app, so that activity data is only stored locally on the phone? How much control can you have of your data?

Thanks for any advice
