I am referring to Linux btw, if that makes any difference. I am wondering what the benefits of full disk encryption are over just home directory encryption. I noticed that on several linux distributions, both options are available. I understand that if I choose only home directory encryption, only the home directory will be encrypted. Since this will contain most (if not all?) personal data, this should be OK right? But I'm wondering if there are some downsides to only …
