Firefox saves the link a file was downloaded from in the file’s metadata. How do I change that?

My friend checked and for some reason on his MacOS laptop no files downloaded while using Firefox have the ‘where from’ section in the ‘get info’. He doesn’t remember how he achieved that, though.
