Ethical or unethical

Is it ethical to delete inappropriate files such as pornography from a business, school, or organization provided laptop? I got an alert for pornography on a user’s company issued laptop and deleted those files. I did this as I was unsure where the files were downloaded from and the possibility of these files having malicious code written into them. I don’t think they belong on work devices either. Was this the ethical thing to do?
