So Equifax decided to make their own cybersecurity framework (from re-used NIST frameworks) and then make it freely available. Nice gesture I suppose, but, help me out here... did someone ask for this? Were there deficiencies somewhere that warranted a new framework to be created?

What am I missing? Or is this just as absurd as it sounds?
