Does wiping a school laptop get rid of any kind of spyware or monitoring?

About a year and a half ago my school gave us laptops to do work on but after I graduated they never asked for the laptop back. I’m not sure if they were even monitored but just in case I completely wiped the computer, deleted all the files and since then have been using it as a personal laptop, I figured if it was monitored they would’ve asked for it back?
