Does Discord record and retain all voice and text data that users send through their system?

I've been looking for a small online platform where a group of friends can discuss things on a relatively anonymous platform eg similar to Discord but have been worried by reports from people saying that it retains all user content even after the user has deleted their account

Is there any truth to this?
