Do RFID cards in wallets work to block other cards in that wallet?

I was watching a video on the flipper zero and the guy used a rfid blocking card in between the card and the flipper and it blocked the flipper from reading the credit card. Does this work in both directions when it’s in the stack of cards or only if it’s surrounding the cards? What’s a good ones to use?
