Do people outside of government jobs renew their security plus?

Was wondering if it is worth doing or if I should go for a different cert. I am not looking for a job at the moment and don’t really have any specific goals around this, but was curious as I’m hearing a lot of mixed answers. Would you put an expired certificate on your resume (stating that it is of course)?
