Privacy & Freedom in the Information Age reddit.com

I have a pixel 3, which is currently running graphene OS. I am trying to double check my understanding here. Here is what I am gathering:

  1. Google will soon drop support for the pixel 3
  2. Graphene OS needs the google files to provide support
  3. Therefore, graphene OS will soon not get updated for the pixel 3
  4. If I want security updates, I need a new, more updated phone.

Is this correct or am I missing something here?
