Despite Google's recent change to policy about deleting accounts after 2 years of inactivity, their data retention policy has not changed, and according to the page, only the user can delete the account and its data themselves.

I've recently discovered Google might be misleading their users into thinking accounts may be deleted if they're inactive for two (2) years with their new changes to policy concerning [inactive accounts.](https://blog.google/technology/safety-security/updating-our-inactive-account-policies/)
Despite this new policy, their page on data retention hasn't changed since the announcement, [“Information retained until you remove it”](https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention) to be specific, which states:
