Cyber risk VS GRC, why the hate?

So I've been working on a cyber risk team for awhile and I have no idea what the GRC group does (I'm aware of the generic definition) but every time their name comes up everyone everyone frowns and bails from the call. It just seems odd that they have "risk" in their title but nobody wants to see or hear from them in cyber risk.

So, what do they do and why all the hate?
