Concerns about ProctorU

I'm taking a class online over the summer through UC Scout and they require me to download the ProctorU Google Chrome extension for the midterm and final exam. However, after reading reviews, I'm a little concerned about the safety of it. People have said that the proctors have far too much access to personal information and the support is terrible.
