Change Apple ID iCloud Email

I created my Apple ID with an iCloud email, and do not have any other emails attached to my Apple ID. I notice that on the new Apple ID website you can change your Apple ID email. Before I make any changes, does anyone know if I can change this email to a new iCloud email and remove my current iCloud email address?
