Career Progression for SoC analyst

I been working as a SOC analyst for about 8 months now and I'm starting to think long term about what I want to do. From what I see most SOC analysts go to threat hunting and penetration testing. What are some other paths that a SOC analyst can for career progression? I would like to go purple team but I know that will be a long shot. Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated
