In Australia; is it possible to buy a mobile phone SIM; (or some other work around); without being required to send the telco a picture of your driver's license or similar invasive identification document to activate it ?

If I am going to SEA (Sth E Asia); can I buy/activate a SIM there; and back on Oz, operate it on "international roming"... would be pretty complex...
