Best ways to monitor web proxy logs

What are the best ways for monitoring web proxy logs? How to detect suspicious URLs, top level domains, etc. thanks to web proxy logs analysis?

I've thought about python scripting to parse log files and analyze them but idk if i'ts the best method for this task and if there are some better approaches.
