android phone keyboard

As I am typing these words into the virtual keybord of my android phone, I am wondering if the keyboard scans/saves/etc everything I write? As android is google powered (correct me of Im wrong here pls) I am wondering if google is thus aware of everything Im typing, regardless whether its a google app or not
