Wide scale .dll attacks?

Hello. Was just thinking about this and thought to ask here. Has anyone ever heard of a big attack where the attacker injects malicious code into a library and passes it off as a real library of some sort? I’ve heard of malicious dll files so I’m assuming there has been attacks like this. Just curious!
