Trying to delete an account, and they've changed the associated email instead

About 2 weeks ago I requested an account deletion. I received an email requesting I respond with confirmation to delete my account, which I did. I've now received an email saying that the email associated with my account has been successfully changed, to a proton address anonymize\_numbers@protonmail. I do use Protonmail, but I didn't request a change I requested my account be deleted. I have no access to this address either, and did not create it on my end.
