TikTok has been fined €345m by Ireland's Data Protection Commission for breaching children's privacy rights under the EU's GDPR; particularly for not being transparent about privacy settings and making accounts of 13 to 17-year-olds public by default.

While this is the largest fine TikTok has faced, it has made efforts to enhance compliance, such as setting younger users' accounts to private by default, and there's an ongoing investigation into TikTok's potential illegal data transfer from the EU to China.
