The FBI is warning of an increase in "phantom hacker" scams targeting senior citizens, with scammers posing as tech support, bank representatives, and government officials, potentially wiping out victims' savings and investments.

From January to June 2023, the FBI received 19,000 tech support scam complaints, with victims losing over $542 million, 50% of whom were aged over 60. Protect yourself by avoiding unsolicited pop-ups, links, and email attachments, and never provide personal information to unknown sources.
