Sanitizing suspicious documents

So I was sent a suspicion document , I forwarded the email to my throw away email and downloaded it in Windows SandBox. Uploaded to virus total premium and got some flags in the behavioral tests ( weird ip traffic to japan and labeled as greyware).

So to sanitize the pdf I used chrome to print it as a pdf, put back in virus total and the behavioral flags were gone.

I am looking to see what better ways there …
