Old Chromecast still okay to use for privacy?

News says google will no longer support the old chromecast -- which we still use since it's simple, no app, just the plugin, and doesn't have all the tracking software the new ones have -- no microphone, etc.

We use our tv as a dumb one. Just cable, no internet, no apps, just stream with Chromecast as needed. Can we continue? If not, is there a privacy alternative?
