Microsoft Teams demands access to your Local Network: can anything be done about this?

I'm a new user of Teams (I got forced to use it by my university). When I join a meeting with my Prof., Teams asks for Local Network access, and won't allow me to start the meeting without that permission! It's not asking for internet access, it wants access to the network, but my network isn't any of Microsoft's f*cking business!

Edit: Apologies, I should have stated that I am using an iPad which is part of a Local Network …
