Made a mistake at work and I’m nervous. Advice needed.

I have been completing privilege access reviews. I forgot to do one task and because I will be resolving the task late, the access review will be past timeframe.

I am worried what will happen. My manager is very harsh and critical, and I have gotten flak for a simple mistake in the past. How would you handle something like this? Have you ever been in a similar situation?
