I'm thinking about switching laptop. I already have a phone running GrapheneOS and switched most online services for privacy respecting alternatives. I'm using a macbook at the moment.


When I was reading about privacy and security in laptops I came across lot of articles about the Intel management engine (IME for short), and the AMD alternative to IME, but I cloud not really find a exploitation in layman's terms on how bad it is for privacy (and security).
