Ashley Liles, a former IT Security Analyst, has been convicted of unauthorized computer access and attempting to blackmail his employer following a ransomware attack. Liles attempted to divert ransom payments to his cryptocurrency wallet and altered blackmail messages. Although he attempted to delete incriminating data, police were able to recover it leading to his conviction. Liles will return to court in July 2023 for sentencing and could face up to 14 years in prison for the blackmail charge.
