Is TikTok really as big of a privacy issue as it’s made out to be? Could I just press “don’t allow?”

I’ve read that it’s the same as other social medias. I’ve considered getting it but I’m concerned about the privacy issues. If I just press “don’t allow” when it asks to use microphone, camera, etc., would I be okay? I would only want it to watch tiktok’s, not make any.
